Chuckatuck Borough is more than a place on a map. It is a community shaped by its land, waterways, historic institutions, working families, and generations of residents who care deeply about its future.

Mary Hill is committed to responsible leadership that preserves the borough’s character while addressing the real issues residents face: land use, infrastructure, accessibility, economic opportunity, and public accountability.

Mary will protect Chuckatuck Borough's rural character and historic legacy while supporting responsible, community-centered growth. Her work includes defending the Hobson National Register designation, supporting Cypress Chapel Christian Church’s 276-year historical marker, and recognizing the work of the Contraband Historical Society.

As a seventh-generation waterwoman, farmer, and member of the Virginia Waterman’s Association, Mary understands that clean waterways and a strong seafood industry are essential to the identity and economy of the region. She will stand up for the natural resources and working traditions that support local families.

Mary supports community restoration and workforce partnerships that connect residents to practical opportunities. Her experience includes collaboration with Virginia Department of Corrections sustainability programs, the Suffolk Workforce Center, and Hampton Roads Workforce centers.

Mary believes families should have the freedom to work, provide, and remain self-sufficient. She is fighting to eliminate restrictive fishing permits that limit opportunity and create unnecessary barriers for people trying to support their families.

Mary is conducting a feasibility study on zoning to address predatory zoning practices, protect land rights, and resolve hazardous standing-water conditions. She supports planning that keeps residents safe while respecting the people who call Chuckatuck Borough home.

Every resident deserves to be heard and included in public life. Mary is advocating for the return of American Sign Language interpreters at public city meetings and supports restoring the Suffolk Persons with Disabilities Commission.

Mary Hill has already shown what responsive local leadership looks like. She has worked to protect historic assets, strengthen workforce connections, defend watermen and working families, address unsafe conditions, and advocate for residents whose concerns were being overlooked.

She also helped a senior veteran couple living along Route 10 / Godwin Boulevard pursue a safer mailbox location away from dangerous traffic, reaching a mutual agreement with the USPS Suffolk Postmaster to explore moving mailboxes to the safer side of the road.
